BOARD MEETING MINUTES MAY 13, 2008
Present were: Barb Janaskie, Lance Janaskie, Bernardine Ginsberg, Reggie Knight, Bob Murray, Gaither Randall, Gerry Rosen, Harald Johnsen, Sally Haugan.
The minutes were approved after a correction was made. Julayne Capps did not need a license for the calibrator. It can be automatically shared with the club. Reggie made a motion for approval and Bernardine 2nd the motion.
Treasurer’s Report - Dorothy Persons
Sally reported for Dorothy. The starting balance was $5299.73, deposits $1533.49, checks written $1347.49 with an ending balance of $5485.73, as of April 30, 2008. A motion was made by Bernardine to accept the treasurer’s report. Reggie 2nd the motion. The motion passed.
1st VP - Lance Janaskie - Lance asked how much the club has collected from the 50/50 raffle. Harald thought it was about $700.
VP Programs - Gaither Randall - Gaither presented the schedule of programs for the remainder of 2008. There are still two openings.
VP Photo Lab - Gerry Rosen - We saw pictures taken by the students who were given our old cameras, and read a letter of appreciation from their teacher.
VP Digital Lab - Julayne Capps - Harald reported for Julayne. The lab is busy with people scanning slides and using other equipment.
VP Video Lab - Bob Murray - Club members with 16mm films donated $278 for the16mm Time/Motion projector. The club paid $72 and more donations have come in. Walt Davis donated the wood spacers for the film chain.
Member at Large - Reggie Knight - No report
Honorary Member - Howard Vogt - Not present
Focus - Barb Janiskie - There are now 454 members from 364 households. The cost of printing the Focus was $11.13 and postage $7.38.
President Report - Harald Johnsen - He felt the club was doing well. We have an orientation for new members, a budget, 50/50 raffle for our reserve account and to purchase new equipment, also more people are involved in the club.
Old Business
1. Revisit comp rules - when the Chairman feels there is a need for a change, please tell the board.
2. New member orientation - the event was very successful and should be held once a month or six weeks. We need to have a chairman in charge of the orientation.
3. Nominating committee - Jim Young, Dick Hall, Sharon Driscoll
4. Used and extra equipment - we will offer it for sale on the web site.
New Business
1. The Holiday Party location - A motion was made by Reggie that we have the Holiday Party at Luke Air Force Base Officers Club early in the evening on Jan. 10, 2009. Gaither and Bernardine 2nd. The motion passed.
2. Video Lab set up for digital video - we need a computer that will help us put a program together using a digital video camera. We will study the need, and decide if there is one, and give a report in the fall.
